Lost In Migration
Millions of birds die every year; not from natural phenomenons, but from window collisions. Something that is 100% preventable. If you have ever come across a dead bird, you may have thought how sad this is; but did you dig deeper? Why does this happen, isn’t it preventable?
Our feathered friends hit windows, because the windows reflect the sky, so birds can’t tell the difference. This has a very simple solution - window markers, as seen in the painting. This doesn’t just apply to commercial buildings and skyscrapers - this is also a residential issue. If birds have passed away from hitting your windows, please fix this issue and apply bird friendly markers to your windows. Wildlife needs us to do better.
Lost In Migration is a piece that depicts the billions of birds, whose life got cut short (annually), thanks to us. Thousands of birds in Chicago alone find their death during the spring/fall migration. They get distracted by lights or confused by window reflections. Please follow the guidelines for those peak times - turn your lights off at night and apply window markers/or urge dangerous for birds buildings to do so.
